Meet our xFramer: Kenichi Miyamae

We are xFramer Jun 4, 2021

Hi everyone, this is xFrame!

Thank you very much for using xFrame.

We are happy to introduce to you the “Meet our xFramer” series, where you can get to know our team members and learn more about the people behind our service.

Let’s start with our first xFramer - Mr. Kenichi Miyamae

1. Tell something about yourself!

I’m Kenichi Miyamae.
I currently live in Kyoto, Japan.

My hobby is taking photos and enjoying works of art. My family members and Kyoto cityscapes have always been my creative inspiration.

I also love the work of photographer Hideaki Hamada.

2. What’s your role at xFrame?

I am the Business Manager and Product Manager of xFrame.

My mission is to draw the future image of xFrame and create the strategic plan and action plan, or design the features, ... to move the service forward to that image.

3. What’s your working background?

In 2006, I joined PIXTA Inc., which operates xFrame.

After working as a UI designer, web director, and business manager, I have been the business manager and product manager of xFrame since 2020.

From my experience so far, I am always ready to challenge new services and try my best for them.

4. How is your working space?

Since PIXTA Japan recommends remote work, I basically work at home and sometimes, in a coworking space nearby.

In my working space, I use the display, keyboard, chair,... that suits me to have a comfortable working environment.

Recently I started using a 4K display, which helps me a lot in improving work efficiency!

5. What does a regular day at xFrame look like for you?

At the start of a working day, I always check the performance of xFrame the day before. Basically, that work is to look at the results of each KPI number to understand what is getting better and what problems are occurring.

After that, I will continue with development feature design tasks, and review or test the features that are currently in progress. Sharing the result with team members is always an important and indispensable step in our work to help everyone catch up with all work situations as soon as possible!

In addition, I have online meetings several times a day, such as daily/ weekly meetings with members and 1on1.

Every day, I keep the habit of going for a walk on the mountain road beside my house after lunch to refresh myself for better working spirit.

(“1 on 1” is a culture in PIXTA Inc. It's a kind of personal meeting between a team member and his/ her leader, where you can share everything with your leader to understand each other well)

6. What do you think about the work environment and your colleagues at xFrame?

The xFrame team members are spread over three cities: Hanoi, Tokyo and Kyoto.

At first, I was worried about the possibility of collaborative development by remote work. However, all of my team members are so nice and have high responsibility for work, so our work environment is very good.

The wealth of tools such as Zoom, Slack, and Figma is another factor in the success of our teamwork.

Also, xFrame members are very particular about improving the user experience. I think that the member's commitment to the user experience is one of the strengths of xFrame.

7. What did you learn from an international working team?

Our challenge now is to create a team environment where all members’ creativity can be further utilized.

I think a good thing about international teams is that members with different cultures and values can work together to improve service. Therefore, the service will also be diverse since we can exchange various opinions.

To that end, I think these 3 things are important:

  1. Understand each other's personalities and values well
  2. Accept and trust the other person
  3. Discuss frankly

What I often do now is read a book about the history of Vietnam, watch popular TV programs in Vietnam on Youtube, and visit Hanoi via Google maps.
Due to the influence of Covid-19, I can not go directly to Hanoi, so I put up with Google maps ha ha. I hope to visit Hanoi members when the situation gets better!

8. What’s your top 3 music for work?

  1. Reflection - brian eno
  2. Yamaemi - Masakatsu Takagi
  3. Mordechai - Khruangbin

Reflection is a song that never ends.
Also, if you play it with the dedicated app, the song will change automatically depending on the program.
Quiet music allows you to concentrate on your work very much. You can have a try here ^^!

9. Do you want to say anything with everyone?
